Sean's Concerts

Elementary School Performance
Sean had two concerts in the last month. One was a school concert, which included his band, the orchestra, and the fourth graders playing their recorders. I will spare you the video. I must say, with all the mother's love in my heart, that it was the worst band performance I've ever been witness to (Sean's my third kid in band, so I've been to quite a few)!  Even with a few weeks passed as a buffer, I can't help laughing a little when I think of it. The fourth graders were great and the orchestra was amazing, but the band...

Granted, this is their first year of band and their first public performance, so I forgive them.  But that doesn't mean you have to be tortured! : )

The second concert was an area-wide performance, which included five elementary school bands and one middle school band.  It was pretty good.  I will share some videos of that one with you.

The first is The Caisson Song.  It is played in parts, so you can hear Sean's section (clarinets) play alone.  Sean is sitting in the third row, and he's about five seats from the left end.

The second selection is Let's Go Band, which is Sean's favorite.  He especially likes the harmony part.

Sean's band director told me he's very impressed with Sean's skill and leadership; and he said,  "Sometimes he's even teachable."  Yup, that's my boy.
