Because it's been a while since I updated the blog, I'm behind letting you know about Michayla's belt rank advancements in martial arts. As I was looking for pictures, I had this fun idea just to post a sort of timeline. So here is Michayla at East West Martial Arts since she started in the fall of 2012.

She took summer 2013 off, so she didn't qualify for testing in September.

She earned her blue belt in June 2014, but I didn't take any pictures because I'm a horrible parent. :(
It was a very unusual test. They scheduled testing for a Sunday, and because of our religious beliefs we chose not to have her participate. They let her come in on a Saturday for a special one-on-one test, but she wasn't feeling well and passed out part way in! So then we had to reschedule for another special one-on-one test. Maybe that's why I forgot to take pictures. It was a crazy situation.

And then she twisted her ankle during practice, and we took her to the emergency room as a precaution, and the doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" She was in a brace and crutches for what seemed like forever (I think it was a few weeks). She missed enough practices that she didn't qualify for testing in December. A real bummer.

The next belt rank is green-brown, then brown, then brown-black, then... black! She's no quitter. It's a matter of time. :)
