Shea Crane is soooooo cool!

We received a letter in the mail this week letting us know that our youngest son is pretty darn cool. Of course, we all picked up on that quite a while ago, but it's nice to occasionally get official recognition outside of the family.

After a wordy intro, the letter from our school district says:

"...While the majority of 5th grade students will begin middle school in Math 6, we recognize that there will be a small number of students who have mastered 6th grade content at the end of 5th grade. These students will be given an opportunity to test for placement in a Compacted 7/8 Math course during their 6th grade year. Your student has been identified to participate in this assessment process..."

Pretty snazzy, huh? And get this -- according to an email from Shea's school principal that was forwarded to us by his teacher, "Shea is the only student from Hearthwood that will be taking the middle school math placement assessment."

Smartest kid in the whole school!

What does Shea have to say for himself? Not much, apparently. His cheeks turned pink and he shrugged his shoulders. He says he likes math.
