A Few Things I'm Thankful For

Raindrops on windows and snowflakes on school days;

Warm, crackling fires to cheer up those cool days;

Cocoa and fresh bread and music to sing;

These are a few of my favorite things.

Good books and chick flicks and cards in the mail;

Green grass and warm sand and pine forest trails;

Smiles from strangers and laughter that rings;

These are a few of my favorite things.

Phase 10 and Yahtzee, Monopoly, Scrabble;

Badminton, Frisbee, and Apples to Apples;

Losing at Nertz because I've only kings;

These are a few of my favorite things.

When the food burns, 

When the kids fight,

When the traffic's bad,

I write a quick song of my favorite things,

And then I don't feel so sad!

Mommy, I love you, I made this for you;

Whole afternoons with no big chores to do;

Puppies and pillows and old front porch swings;

These are a few of my favorite things.

Groceries in cupboards and light bulbs on faces;

Learning new subjects and going fun places;

Living the Gospel, the peace that it brings;

These are a few of my favorite things.

I could keep going, but you're prob'ly tired.

If I got paid for this, I would be fired.

I'm grateful for holidays like Thanksgiving,

But I will soon run out of rhymes for "thing."
